The Effects of Singing Songs Music Therapy on Self-Esteem and Ego-Resilience of Single Mothers in a Care Facility

This study is to investigate the effects of song-focused group music therapy on single mothers' in a care facility self-esteem and ego- resilience. The subjects of this study are 20 single mothers who are living in the O house welfare in the section H located in Daejeon. Among them, 10 single mothers were randomly assigned to an experimental group and 10 single mothers were randomly assigned to a control group and from December 1, 2017, the center performed song-focused group music therapy 12 times every 50 minutes for six weeks to the experimental group and the control group. After the program, Paired T-test is carried out by using the control group pretest-posttest design and the IBM SPSS Statistics 18.0 program. The summary of the research's results is as follows: First, song-focused group music therapy program affects the self-esteem of the single mothers in a care facility. Second, song-focused group music therapy program affects the ego- resilience of the single mothers in a care facility. Therefore song-focused group music therapy program of this research positively affects a promotion of the self-esteem and ego- resilience of the single mothers in a care facility.
